California has released fundamental and technical generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) training for state employees. The new training is the result of California Gov. Gavin Newsom signing the Executive Order (EO) on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in 2023.

As part of a broader initiative to improve mental health care and treatment statewide, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the launch of MentalHealth.CA.gov, a website for people seeking mental health resources available to state residents.

Following California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) signed in 2023, the California Government Operations Agency has released procurement guidelines and a new toolkit for state agencies and departments as they consider and procure GenAI technology for state operations.

The latest assessment of California’s primary tech agency by the state auditor has identified severe weaknesses in Strategic Planning, Information Security, and Project Oversight that limit the state’s management of its multi-billion dollar IT portfolio.

In what has proven to be a most regrettable decision, former California Governor Jerry Brown back in 2012 foolishly eliminated the State CIO agency from his cabinet, and in the process returned the state’s IT management to a failed organizational structure of the past.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has released Cal-Secure, the state’s first multi-year cybersecurity roadmap. In a press release, Gov. Newsom’s office said Cal-Secure is built on industry-leading best practices and frameworks, and addresses critical gaps in the state’s information and cybersecurity programs while enabling the state to manage existing and future threats more effectively.
